A Mumbai-based visual artist and graphic designer. Founder of Studio Kohl, her personal work is essentially Indian, witty and contemporary, characterised by her visceral use of line. We kicked off the event with a meet and greet session for the attendees, followed by Mira's presentation on some of his personal works. These ranged from her Tainted Love sketchbook illustrations to finished works exploring important questions on how to artwork your idea to suit various product formats and keep the intended art buyer in mind.
Mira, who is part of the Kadak Collective, via which she has showcased her Unfolding The Saree Zine at ELCAF, went on to talk about the pros and cons of creating an independent zine. She shared valuable tips on layouts, formats, prototyping, choice of topic and more.
This was a perfect segue to the activity of this Sketchbook Sunday - Make Your Own Zine. To kick things off, Kunal shared some iconic examples to serve as inspiration. It was a really fun activity with multiple interesting ideas ranging from quirky to serious. The participants have been given 10 days to refine their ideas and send them across to us. Check back to see the top submissions.
