Kulture Shop Art at The Bagel Shop

Kulture Shop Art at The Bagel Shop

Over the last few years, Bandra has exploded into a hub for creativity, breaking norms in the way we work, connect, play and live. Street art, alternative lifestyles, cool little pop-ups and nightlife that's less overly-polished, and more 'come as you are' are just some of the reasons why so many people flock to our 'hood.

One of the main reasons we decided to set up base here is for Bandra's vibrant dynamic culture. Local bazaars, the churches, the come-get-lost by-lanes, and the Portuguese-Goa-esque charm all add to Bandra's magic. If we were to draw an illustration filled with specific places and characters that make Bandra 'Bandra', you could bet The Bagel Shop and its owner Anil Kably would be living at the top of our shortlist. For the past ten years, The Bagel Shop has been a second living room to many of us who live in the 'burbs and Anil has been the spirit and soul that welcomes you in.

We all have a personal story about this charming, not-trying-to-be-something-else place. A few of us may even say that a random conversation or a crossing of paths on that patio changed the course of our lives. It's true! Maybe there's something in the milkshakes... or maybe it's the friendly clientele who are open to meeting strangers. No one seems to be shy over here. We love that.

Earlier this month, Anil asked if we'd like to showcase and curate the art at The Bagel Shop. We, of course, said "Hell yeah!" and then we got right to it. You can expect us to change up the art every month featuring works from our growing platform of artists. And maybe soon enough you'll find yourself sitting down to watch a cool documentary on art now and then. There's no one more encouraging than Anil who loves music (think: Sonic Youth, Iggy Pop, Jesus + Mary Chain), art, and culture that challenges the norm (think: Zenzi, his other cultural contribution to Bandra).
